Around Here

First, a couple of old pictures.  On Mother's Day, we went to Lawrence so Jason could go fishing out on my parents' boat.  He caught a few and almost had a 5-pound walleye, but they left the net at home and couldn't get the fish in the boat!  Now that he has learned to fish, I guess we will never starve.

Marin was obsessed with watching Grandpa clean the fish.  At one point, she had to go potty, so she told Grandpa to leave some for when she got back.  I suppose when you name your daughter Marin before she is born, and she turns out blonde-ish, with light eyes and an affinity for swimming (and all things The Little Mermaid), you can expect her to like all things related to the sea - el mar.  Funny how that works. (You would be correct in assuming Lainey would not touch a fish.  But she loves bugs that don't fly!)

About a month ago, Lainey asked me how to spell "person" so she could write it out (I don't know why).  This started a couple of weeks of her asking me how to spell stuff.  Here are some pics of her writing. When we went to her preschool parent night last week, they were talking to us about how the teachers will do anything for the kids, reaching out for different resources for different learning.  They gave the example of how they had kids who knew their letters and sounds and were starting to sound out words, so they brought in literary coaches.  I think Lainey is ready for Kindergarten based on that tidbit of information, but Pre-K will give her good social skills if nothing else.
