It's Cold

It seems we've been in a deep freeze for a long time now. I'm not exactly sure how many single digit, negative windchill nights our new, bigger furnace has had to put up with, but let's just say I'm ready for spring (and I don't even have to leave the house much).

Or maybe the spring can just wait so we can enjoy our small little family of 3 before the chaos sets back in again once BG#2 makes her arrival.

With the freezing temps, we've also had some snow - though not as much as we usually get. But sure enough, the latest snow came on a weekend like it has been doing so far this fall.

Instead of taking Lainey out to have a tasty snack, I brought it inside for her.

We're just busy with another round of finishing small projects around the house, getting ready for our second holiday family-hosting extravaganza, this time with Jason's family. Lainey is excited to show everyone, with her handy-dandy index finger, all of the new things around the house, including the concrete fireplace hearth Papa just finished.

And because I didn't have an Elmo picture for the last post...

Having an Elmo sippy cup has really encouraged the big girl to drink out of her sippy cup by herself.

Here she is drumming (and she has some pretty good rhythm when jamming with her papa) and sporting her first bobby pin in her hair.

And lastly: stuck between a rock and a hard place. Or a 16" deep landing between a gate and being forced down the stairs. We're working on her learning to climb down the stairs, backwards, and she has the first step down, but then climbs back up. Hopefully she masters them before March. I think we'll be lucky if she's even walking by then... Please let us be underestimating her abilities.
