Bad Influence

Lately, Marin has been a bad influence on Lainey.
It's funny (not really) how this has come to be.
We worried about this when Marin came along at Lainey's ripe, old age of 13.75 months.
We thought that Lainey would suddenly want to nurse again, or use bottles, or lay in the bouncer or swing.
But she was fine.
More than fine, really.
She stepped it up and grew up REALLY fast between then and now.
She's a great little mama now because of it.

But NOW.
NOW she is wanting to act like a baby, or at least do the things Marin does.
She wants to sit in the highchair instead of her booster seat.
And I let her, for now, since we are getting rid of it right after Marin's 1st birthday party (I want to have them both in the same highchair for their 1st birthday, cake-eating picture).

And at dinner, once Marin has gotten her belly full, she likes to squeal and dance and shake her head.
She does it for Lainey's attention, since they are pretty much facing each other.
And Lainey does it.
Hearing a 2-year old - who has 20 some songs memorized, knows her colors and ABCs, and can count - scream like a baby is so annoying.
Makes me feel like a failure.
Like we're regressing.
Maybe we are, who knows.

BUT, I think it's all right.
I think it might be a sign that they're bonding.
That they want to be like each other.
But maybe it's just because we've been cooped up in this small house for too long.

Whatever it is, at least Lainey still does her chores.
