A New Year

Our fresh, new start to a new year was a long time in the making.

We've been getting rid of things for months now.
And now it seems like we've passed on as much baby stuff as we can. We're out of junk.

And, we've come full circle with this little house of ours.
The play/craft room re-do that we recently finished was the first room we started on when we bought this place three and a half years ago. We've put 7 coats of paint on it ourselves.
And we keep moving, on to the second room we worked on, because we can't sit idle.
The kitchen.
We had a bad recommendation of what paint to use back when we gutted the room, and well, it's just time to fix it.
So flat to satin and blue to green it is.
That makes gallon number 28 used on the interior.

And because the kitchen is getting a little makeover, to the trash things go if they haven't been touched (by me) in the last year and a half.
Makes it (and me) feel lighter.
And, so, in the process, I gained this.

Which will probably be filled with my next item of business on my hey, look, I'm not pregnant, nursing or may become pregnant - for once list.
Cake and cookie decorating schtuff.

This is going to be a good year - a more normal year (whatever that is). A year where we can focus on making memories and documenting them. On hobbies. On showing the kids the outside world. On living and not just getting by. On more discipline and tough love.

I feel like it is going to be a year where we can finally put down some roots.
I'm talking family roots, traditions, qualities.
Not roots in this town or this state.
Just roots that make the core of a family.

Bring it.
